Ferguson’s big day powers Wildcats in 15-1 rout over Roland
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR,

The Checotah Wildcats (12-2) came out swinging and never looked back.

Behind a clutch performance from Taten Ferguson, Checotah Varsity rolled past Roland 15-1 on Monday in dominant fashion. Ferguson drove in four runs, delivering when it mattered most with a bases-clearing single in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Checotah wasted no time setting the tone, exploding for runs in the first inning. Ferguson got things started, followed by RBI hits from Cale Thompson and Traegan Duvall, while Muhammad Rehman added a run with a walk. A balk capped the early surge as the Wildcats jumped ahead and stayed in control.

On the mound, Ty Guthrie tossed three innings and kept Roland off the scoreboard.

Mason Rainbolt came in relief, striking out 10 batters over four innings while allowing just one hit and one run.

The Wildcats piled on late, adding five more runs in the seventh inning, highlighted again by Ferguson’s clutch hit. Checotah finished with 10 hits on the day, with Ferguson, Thompson, and Duvall each collecting two.

Patience at the plate proved key, as Checotah drew nine walks, including five by Camden Ferguson, keeping constant pressure on Roland’s defense.

From first pitch to final out, it was all Wildcats, a complete performance fueled by timely hitting, dominant pitching, and relentless energy.

Wildcats run wild in 12-0 rout of Okemah

Checotah exploded early and never looked back, rolling past Oke-mah 12-0 on Friday behind a dominant allaround performance.

The Wildcats poured it on in the first inning with a flurry of hits, aggressive base running, and a steal of home to seize control. They kept the pressure on, adding to the lead in the second before breaking it open in the third on Mason Rainbolt’s RBI single.

Kross Stauffer earned the win with three hitless innings, while Checotah’s offense stayed patient at the plate and electric on the bases, racking up 12 stolen bases.

Cale Thompson and Ace Wilhite helped spark the attack, and the Wildcats backed it up with flawless defense to cap a complete team victory.

Wildcats storm past Crowder

Mason Rainbolt was nearly untouchable at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run, double, and four RBIs to power Checotah past Crowder 16-5 on Thursday.

After falling behind early, the Wildcats answered fast, tying it in the second and taking control in the third, before unleashing a massive 10-run seventh inning to blow it wide open.

Taten Ferguson delivered the biggest punch with a three-run double and finished with five RBIs, while Rainbolt added a two-run blast and Cale Thompson crushed a solo homer to cap the rally.

Ace Wilhite earned the win on the mound. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking six. Kross Stauffer tossed one inning of shutout ball for the Checotah Varsity Wildcats in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking none.

Checotah’s offense piled up 15 hits while staying aggressive on the bases. Taten Ferguson went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with five runs batted in. Eli Patterson and Camden Ferguson each collected multiple hits.

The Wildcats turned a tight game into a runaway, powered by big bats, clutch hits, and a seventh inning Crowder won’t soon forget.
