Eufaula High School Drama Department Presents The Rehearsal by Don Zolidis

Eufaula High School Drama Department Presents The Rehearsal by Don Zolidis

The Eufaula High School Speech and Drama Department is proud to announce its upcoming production of The Rehearsal, a hilarious and poignant comedy by renowned playwright Don Zolidis. This production is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Playscripts.

The Rehearsal follows the journey of an ambitious young teacher attempting to stage the classic musical Guys and Dolls. As any theater educator knows, bringing a musical to life is a monumental task, and this production faces a series of comedic hurdles: a megalomaniacal stage manager, a lead actor convinced that Wicked is a superior show, and a cast member with a doctor’s note stating they are clinically incapable of following directions. To complicate matters further, there are far too few “guys” to fill the necessary roles.

Filled with humor and heart, The Rehearsal offers an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at the “drama” inherent in high school theater. “This play truly hits home for me,” says Selina Dornan, Speech and Drama teacher at Eufaula High School. “I believe our students will find it just as relatable”.

About the Playwright Don Zolidis is a celebrated American playwright and author whose work is a cornerstone of educational theater. A former teacher himself, Zolidis’s scripts are among the most-produced plays in American high schools. Selina Dornan has a long-standing appreciation for his work, having directed five of his plays throughout her career. Notably, Zolidis will serve as the virtual keynote speaker for the “EHS Goes Hollywood” Drama Awards Banquet on May 4, 2026.
