ANS are non-native aquatic species that pose significant ecological and economic threats to aquatic ecosystems. This can include fish, aquatic plants, algae, invertebrates, viruses, and other aquatic pathogens. ANS can compete with and decrease native species within a system.
Everyone can help protect Oklahoma’s lakes and rivers for future generations by preventing the spread of aquatic nuisance species. ANS threatens the health and balance of aquatic ecosystems across the state. Boaters and anglers can accidentally spread inva-sive plants and animals when moving from one body of water to another. You can help stop the spread by cleaning, draining, and drying your boat and equipment, and by properly disposing of unused bait.
