The Eufaula Lady Ironheads battled throughout Tuesday’s matchup, but a powerful third-inning rally by Tahlequah proved to be the difference as the Lady Tigers secured an 8-0 victory.
Tahlequah struck first in the opening inning when Zoie Griffin blasted a threerun home run to right field, giving the Lady Tigers an early advantage.
Eufaula continued to compete, but Tahlequah widened the gap in the third inning with a five-run surge. An error brought in the first run of the frame before Kallie Stopp and Kayden Trammel each delivered RBI singles. Cadence Kirk followed with a two-run single to cap the rally and push the lead to eight.
Abby Box started in the circle for Eufaula, working five innings while allowing seven hits and eight runs, only three of which were earned.
Offensively, Leah Green led the Lady Ironheads at the plate, collecting two hits in two at-bats from the leadoff spot and providing a spark for the Eufaula lineup.
Cadence Kirk earned the win for Tahlequah, allowing three hits and no runs over five innings while walking one. Griffin led the Lady Tigers with three RBIs, while Addie Davis paced the lineup with two hits.
Despite the final score, the Lady Ironheads continued to battle and look to build momentum as the season progresses.
Lady Ironheads battle hard against Warner
The Eufaula Lady Ironheads (0-2) faced a tough Warner squad Thursday, falling 11-0 despite several bright moments.
Warner jumped ahead early with a four-run first inning and added power at the plate with home runs from Ella LaBounty and Paisley LaBounty to build the lead.
Eufaula continued to compete throughout the game. Leah Green went 1-for-1 to lead the Lady Ironheads at the plate, while the defense turned a double play to highlight the effort in the field.
Abby Box started in the circle for Eufaula, working two innings against a patient Warner lineup that drew six walks.
