The Golden Hurricane came up short Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, falling 41–27 to East Carolina despite a breakout performance from Brody Foley, who hauled in 125 yards and scored his first career receiving touchdown.
Baylor Hayes led Tulsa’s offense, completing 23-of-41 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Zion Booker snagged nine receptions for 55 yards and a score, while Stephen Kittleman added a rushing touchdown. On defense, Ray Coney was a force once again, racking up 12 tackles, his fourth game this year with double-digit stops.
Tulsa fought back after an early ECU lead, closing the gap to 17–14 in the second quarter with a Hayes-to-Booker touchdown before the Pirates pulled away late. Kicker Seth Morgan nailed two field goals to keep Tulsa within reach, but ECU’s explosive plays proved the difference.
The Golden Hurricane (now 3–4) returns home next Saturday to face Temple at H.A. Chapman Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
