Baptism is more than just a dip in the water!

Seven people were baptized at LECC on Fill the Tank Day this past Sunday. How great it was to witness these new believers choosing to lead a Christian life! The smiles were as wide as the ripples in the water, and you could almost feel heaven smiling, too.

Baptism isn’t just about filling the tank — it’s about filling hearts. This celebration reminded us that baptism is not an outdated ritual, but a living response to Jesus’ call. In Matthew 28:19, He told His followers, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Baptism is the first visible “yes” to that call.

Baptism reveals obedience of a believer. Acts 2:38 records Peter’s words, “Repent and be baptized… for the forgiveness of your sins.” Baptism, then, is not a finish line: it’s a starting line. It marks the moment a person moves from spectator to participant, from being curious about faith to being committed to it.

The early church in Acts never separated belief from baptism. The two went hand in hand — belief, then action.

Each person who stepped into the water Sunday made that same declaration: “I’m all in.” They were saying to friends, family, and the watching world, “I belong to Christ, and I’m not turning back.” Romans 6:4 explains it beautifully: “We were buried therefore with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too might walk in newness of life.”

Watching the baptisms without being moved was impossible. As one after another rose from the water, there was laughter, cheering, clapping, and a few tears. The service ended with the kind of joy that can’t be contained — the joy of knowing that God is still changing lives, one splash at a time.

For anyone wondering if baptism really matters, the answer was clear on Sunday. When hearts are ready and faith is real, the tank isn’t just full of water. It’s full of new beginnings. And that’s why we’ll keep doing it at LECC—not just on Fill the Tank Sunday, but any Sunday of the year.

Don’t wait for perfect timing to be baptized. The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, but the second best time is right now. “Get up, be baptized, and wash your sins away, calling on His name.” (Acts 22:16) Come see what new life in Christ looks like at LECC, 415897 Highway 9, Eufaula. Smallgroup Bible study starts at 10 a.m., worship at 11 a.m., and Wednesday night all-age activities begin at 6:30 p.m. Bring your family—and your faith—to the water.

God Bless You!
