Lady Wildcats roar past Stilwell 7-3 on senior night
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Checotah Lady Wildcats (1212) made senior night unforgettable, storming past the Stilwell Lady Indians 7-3 on Monday. Checotah honored seniors Shaelynn Casey, Jasmine Johnson, and Shyanne Madewell, and all three left their mark in a night to remember.

Stilwell struck first with a Macie Burns RBI double in the top of the first, but the Lady Wildcats quickly answered back. Aurora Madewell stepped up with a clutch single that drove in two runs, swinging momentum Checotah’s way, 2-1.

The Wildcats kept the pressure on.

In the second, Carly Dismukes helped push another run across, and Lexi Miller added an RBI single in the third to extend the lead to 4-1.

From the circle, senior Shaelynn Casey was steady and strong. She went the distance, pitching seven innings, scattering six hits and three runs while striking out six.

Checotah’s offense pounded out 11 hits on the night. Aurora Madewell powered the lineup with two RBIs on a 2-for-3 outing. Senior Jasmine Johnson was flawless at the plate, going 3-for-3 from the nine batter to spark the lineup, while Carly Dismukes added two more hits.

When the final out was recorded, the Lady Wildcats celebrated both a big win and the legacy of their seniors. Casey’s grit in the circle, Johnson’s bat at the bottom of the order, and Madewell’s leadership at the plate made sure senior night ended in triumph as she hit a triple at her last at bat.

Inola Longhorns power past Lady Wildcats, 7-3

The Checotah Lady Wildcats battled hard but couldn’t overcome a hot-hitting Inola squad, falling 7-3 on Wednesday night.

Inola came out swinging, plating a run in the top of the first off backto- back singles, with Mady Williams delivering the RBI. Checotah quickly answered in the bottom half when Lexi Miller roped a single to left, knotting the game at 2-2.

But the Lady Longhorns refused to cool off. A groundout by Jaylen Dark pushed them back ahead in the second, and in the third, Camber Bradley sparked another rally with a single to center. Bradley later tagged up and scored, padding Inola’s lead to 5-2.

Tobi Unrau was dominant in the circle for Inola, tossing a completegame gem. She gave up just four hits and three unearned runs across seven innings, striking out two and not issuing a single walk.

Checotah’s Shaelynn Casey battled through all seven innings but took the loss, allowing seven runs (three earned) on 11 hits while striking out two.

At the plate, Miller led Checotah with two RBIs, while Shyanne Madewell stayed hot, going 2-for-3. The Lady Wildcats also flashed some leather, turning two crisp double plays to keep the game within reach.

Inola’s offense, however, was relentless. The Longhorns racked up 11 hits, with Brynlee Pratt and Unrau each collecting three. Williams, Briley Mullen, Bradley, and Unrau all knocked in runs to seal the victory.

Big sixth inning powers Glenpool past

Checotah

The Glenpool Lady Warriors exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning to storm past the Checotah Lady Wildcats 11-3 on Monday night.

Checotah struck first in the bottom of the opening frame when Shaelynn Casey roped a double to left field and an error allowed another run to cross, putting the Lady Wildcats up early.

But the momentum shifted in the sixth when Glenpool’s bats came alive. The Lady Warriors strung together five hits and capitalized on miscues to put up a crooked number. The dagger came off the bat of Kami Culley, who battled through a six-pitch atbat before smashing a bases-clearing double to give Glenpool control at 8-3.

Casey went the distance in the circle for Checotah, scattering 12 hits and allowing 10 runs (only one earned) with one strikeout. At the plate, she led the way with two hits and an RBI, while teammate Carly Dismukes also collected two hits.

For Glenpool, Kaylee Kendrick earned the win after giving up just three runs (one earned) on five hits across seven innings, striking out four with no walks. Culley delivered the biggest punch with a 3-for-5 night and four RBIs. Bella Bible and Kenna Goodvoice also chipped in with multiple hits as Glenpool finished with 12 knocks on the night.
