If you’re a Christian, your mission field begins at home!

One of the most important things my parents taught my sister and me was that God is not only good and worthy of worship, but He is also faithful to us. We see this beautiful promise written in Psalm 119:90: “Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created. “ That fact is something all Christians should teach all children.

How faithful is God? Oftentimes, when a company runs a promotion, terms and conditions apply. What that means is that everything they just stated isn’t necessarily true. You must buy within a certain time frame, or be eligible for the benefit, or spend a certain amount of money before any sort of savings kick in. The list is never- ending for what the terms and conditions might be.

In our world, a promise is rarely unconditional, but God promised His faithfulness will endure from generation to generation. That is what an unconditional promise from God looks like. He promises to do something, and He will do it in His timing—no matter what. God blesses us each and every day regardless of whether we deserve it or not.

So, what is our role as parents and grandparents? Or as a saved and baptized student who influences friends? We SHOULD actively teach our families, our children, and our friends about our joy for salvation in Christ. He wants us to walk out our faith and teach our families to truly know and obey Him. Our mission fields begin at home!

Here’s the first challenge to us as parents: Listen with a teachable heart. Sometimes people come to church and their hearts are never really prepared to engage. Perhaps they never open their mouths and sing during worship. Kids notice that. Maybe they never seem to connect with Christ, remembering His sacrifice and praying during communion. Kids notice that. Maybe they tend to sleep through the sermon, or never look up from scrolling through the phone or playing a game. Kids notice that. Kids need you to model something better.

The second challenge is to commit your days to discipleship. Psalm 78:4-5 says, “We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and His mighty wonders. For He issued His laws to Jacob; He gave His instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children.”

At LECC at 414987 Highway 9, Eufaula, we recognize that every Christian has a duty to disciple others in the faith. Our factory setting is a three-part cycle: listen-obey-teach.

If you are unchurched, join us to discover the joy that Christians have as we do all three!

Come to small group Bible study at 10 a.m., worship at 11 a.m. and/ or Wednesday night all-age activities at 6:30 p.m..

God Bless You!
