Eufaula sweeps Kellyville on Homecoming night
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Eufaula Ironheads and Lady Ironheads accomplished something that hasn’t been done in a long time, sweeping the Kellyville Ponies in both games played at Perry Anderson Gymnasium. Eufaula started the game with a wonderful homecoming ceremony where Homecoming King Maddox Bridges dipped Homecoming Queen Kate Pippenger and kissed her.

Kellyville started the game off with J.R. Lawrence, scoring 12 of his 25 game points. Eufaula quickly adjusted and outscored Kellyville 12-7 in the second period as Jentry James rained two three-point buckets while Dusty Eby added another in the second period. It was a defensive match-up where Keaton Parish, Ty Sparks and Maddox Bridges forced turnovers while Dacen Hunter grabbed rebounds.

The Ironheads found their groove in the third period as Bridges hit two-three-point shots and Eby added another while James continued to make the Ponies pay by leaving him open to score from the arch.

Kellyville struggled to move up court as the Ironheads’ highpressure defense forced turnovers that led to points scored as they outscored Kellyville 1810 to close the third period with a 42-33 lead.

Kellyville resolved to foul someone and their target was Jentry James. Little did they know he would be perfect from the free-throw line, scoring all of his four points from the foul line.

Kellyville tried to battle back. Lawrence continued to play hard in the paint, scoring nine points in the final period. However, it was too late as Eufaula held on to win 51-46.

Maddox Bridges finished with 10 points; Dusty Eby 12, Jentry James 14, Keaton Parish nine and Ty Sparks added four points.
