J.C. Camp, 84, retired insurance agent for the McIntosh County Farm Bureau, was critically injured in a freak accident which occurred on Nov. 18 at 11:15 a.m. when he was attempting to get his truck unstuck from mud on his property.
Checotah Police Officer Devan Mitchell said a witness watched as J.C. Camp hooked up his stuck truck by chain to his wife Carolyn’s truck in an effort to pull it free.
The witness reported that the wife gunned her own truck and hit an electric pole.
“The witness saw Mr. Camp get stuck and when Mrs. Camp moved the vehicle off the pole, the witness saw Mr. Camp lying on the ground and called 911,” Mitchell stated in her police report.
Mrs. Camp was distraught and unsure of exactly what happened, Mitchell stated.
