Mr. Editor – The Cherokee Fair and Agricultural Association will hold their first fair at their beautiful grounds near Fort Gibson on the 18th, 19th and 21st days of September, and all are cordially invited to attend.
This fair is chartered by the Cherokee Council for the benefit of the whole Indian Territory.
Sisters Home on School Break
Misses Mattie and Hallie Buckner, daughters of Rev. H.F. Buckner, who have been attending school in Alabama, returned to their home in Eufaula on Friday last, and were warmly welcomed. We regret to learn they have been and are still suffering from whooping cough.

WILL VOTE FEBRUARY 7
It is now generally conceded in Washington that the senate will admit Indian Territory and Oklahoma February 7. Delegates from New Mexico and Arizona, opposed to union of their territories, are jubilant over the concession of Senator Beveridge.
Mask Ball
A mask ball will be held at Palace Hall next Monday night. Arrangements are being made for a grand time. All are invited.

HANNA WILL HAVE WEEKLY NEWSPAPER
J.T. Berry, formerly publisher of the Hanna Dispatch, but for the past several years publisher of papers in Spiro and Wister, was in Eufaula the first of the week.
Mr. Berry informs us that he will begin inside the next two weeks publishing The Hanna Times, a new paper he expects to start in that hustling little city as soon as he can get his plant up and going.
INDIAN SCHOOL HEAD OUT
C.H. Wilson, who is credited with having reopened and put in first class shape the Tuskahoma Female Academy, one of the eight tribal schools of the Five Civilized Tribes of Oklahoma, sent his resignation yesterday as superintendent to Herbert C. Calhoun, Indian education director.

ROBERT HUNTER, SON OF EUFAULA MAN, ESCAPES HUNS Shot down behind the German lines in Italy early in May, Robert J. Hunter of Council Hill. P-47 pilot, son of Roy Hunter, well known oil station operation of Eufaula, miraculously escaped capture and made his way back to the American lines, he reported during his visit with home folks in Eufaula last week.
Hunter suffered severe burns on the arms and legs when his plane burst into flames after a direct hit by German anti-aircraft guns.
He parachuted to safety as his plane went out of control and crashed in flames.
Hunters fighter plane was equipped with bomb racks, and he made constant raids on railroads, bridges, trucks and supply dumps during his three months of service in Italy.
DAY PROMOTED TO SERGEANT
Cpl. James Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bledon Day, has been promoted to sergeant. He is stationed in England with the Army Air Corp.

Asphalt Topping On Highway 9 Scheduled to Start in August Asphalt topping of 7.75 miles of Oklahoma State Highway 9 west of Eufaula, is slated to get underway by August 15, and completion of the project may be expected two weeks later if present work schedules are maintained without serious interruption.
This is a $395,477 project.

Public Apathy On Polio Shots
In 1958 there was more paralytic polio in the United States than in 1957, warns Surgeon General Leroy E. Burney Yet the pharmaceutical industry was recently impelled to destroy over 12 million units of polio vaccine for fear of deterioration, after giving away quantities of the immunizer before running into the wall of public apathy.

New county jail on the way
McIntosh County voters sent a resounding message at the polls Tuesday passing a Vi- cent sales tax measure that will go towards the construction of a new county jail facility.
According to the McIntosh County Election Board, 1,784 (83.56 percent) voted in favor of the proposition: only 351 (16.44 percent) voted against it.

Coleta Christmas honored
Coleta Christmas, who has raised thousands of dollars for McIntosh County Toys for Tots, was honored recently by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services for her unselfish benevolence.
