District 2 County Commissioner Monty Grider, left, joined Oklahoma Department of Transportation inspectors to check out the new bridge on South 4140 Road, which leads to Little Oklahoma. The bridge spans Possum Creek. The old structure was severely damaged by flooding and was replaced at a cost of about $700,000. Work began in June 2023 and was completed in January, 2024. Inspectors went to the site last week. A few minor issues were found. “We’ve had 7 ½ inches of rain lately,” Grider said. Challenges to constructing the new bridge included heat, mosquitos, and snakes.
