After a fiery speech from Eufaula head coach Josh Luna at the end of the Ironheads’ (14-11) game with Heavener in which the Wolverines topped the Ironheads 12-2, the Ironheads bounced back and dominated their opponents 14-1 in the second game of a double-header.
Eufaulas Hayden Robinson went 4-for-5 to lead the Ironheads at the plate. It was an exciting game that saw the Ironheads make stealing bases look easy Coach Luna definitely saw his team improve at the plate and on the mound. The Ironheads jumped out to a 4-1 lead at the end of the first inning as Robinson and Draven Gragg scored on a double prior to another Heavener error scoring another Ironhead run. “That’s how we have to play if were going to have a chance at the post season,” Coach Luna said.
Senior Taber Grider had been successful with the bat and drew a walk that scored an additional run. Robinson was the winning pitcher as he only allowed three hits over five innings with three strikeouts. Jaxon Lange went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Carson Luna 1-for-3 with three runs scored, Gragg 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Grider was perfect going 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs.
Eufaula pitcher JP Hicks took the loss in game one, going two innings and allowing three earned runs on seven hits with three walks.
