Ohio State University failed to land DeMarco Murray as their new running backs’ coach. The Sooner assistant coach will stay with the Sooners for the 2024 season.
Murray has led Oklahoma’s backfield as its top offensive assistant since the 2020 season with sizable production from his ball carriers.
Murray was considered to be one of the best players in program history during his career at Oklahoma, finishing with 3,685 career-rushing yards with 50 touchdowns. He also piled up 157 career catches with 13 touchdowns, and 1,462 kickoff return yards with two touchdowns. When Murray entered the NFL Draft in 2011, he was selected in the third round (71st overall) by the Dallas Cowboys.
He is set to make $575,000 in 2024 and is under contract through the 2025 season, making him OU’s lowest paid offensive coach. He was awarded a $75,000 raise in January.
