Ironheads top Latta in Consolation bracket
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR,

The Eufaula Ironheads earned a big 4029 victory over Latta in the Atoka Basketball Tournament Consolation bracket on Saturday. Maddox Bridges led the Ironheads with 12 points. Eufaula jumped out early, outscoring Latta 17-2 in the first period. Keaton Parish was on fire from the perimeter as he sunk two three-point shots to give Eufaula a 13-2 lead.

“We got off to an incredible start. Totally took away their three-point offense. We missed some easy ones in the third period to totally break it open, but we’re in control the entire game,” Eufaula head coach Rob McKinzie said.

Eufaula led 28-13 to start the fourth period. It was a total team effort with great rebounding by Landon Mills and Draven Gragg. Both combined for 17 points and controlled the paint on both ends of the court. Latta failed to get any offense going as the Ironheads forced multiple turnovers and converted on the other end.

On Friday Eufaula defeated Atoka 5744. Eufaula outscored Atoka 13-8 in the first period on the plays of Landon Mills, Maddox Bridges, Jaxon Lange and Ty Sparks. Atoka battled back with a 14-point second period to trail Eufaula 28-22. But the Ironheads came out hot as Keaton Parish hit eight of his 16 points and outscored Atoka 13-9. The effort in the paint by Landon Mills and Draven Gragg was exceptional as both big men grabbed multiple rebounds. Mills finished with ten points and Gragg added six points.

Maddox Bridges led all scorers with 19 points as Eufaula had three players score in double digits plus five players scoring in the game.

In Thursday’s action, Eufaula lost to Madill 54-37. It was exciting to start as both teams felt each other out and began to settle down with Madill getting the upper hand 8-6. Madill began to take over with a 19-point second period to take a 27-17 halftime lead. Keaton Parish had a great second half as the sophomore scored ten points and Landon Mills added five points. Madill took advantage of missed opportunities by Eufaula. They capitalized on the mistakes and converted them into points. Madill outscored the Ironheads 26-19 in the second half to seal the victory. Eufaula sophomore Bryce Casey scored from the paint as Eufaula put their reserves in to finish the game. Maddox Bridges scored 14 points in the loss.
