The Checotah Wildcats (3-1) defense set the tone as the Wildcats shut down the Eufaula Ironheads’ (1-2) offense and then watched their offensive line control the line of scrimmage as their skill players ex-ecuted the game plan perfectly in a 54-27 victory The win breaks the 107 game tie (53-53-1) to take back the lead 5453-1 in the 108th meeting of Oklahoma’s longest uninterrupted high school football rivalry It was the first time in four years that Checotah had won the McIntosh County Championship trophy and they celebrated in style.
“This is a huge win for us. I’m so proud of our players and coaches. We really prepared for everything, every day this week. We knew it was going to be an emotional and physical game but if we controlled what we could, we would have an opportunity to come out with a win,” Checotah head coach Zac Ross said.
Checotah rolled to 648 total offensive yards while holding Eufaula to 356 total yards.
