Eufaula sweeps Wolverines
By RODNEY HALTOM SPORTS EDITOR The Eufaula Iron-heads (2-2) and Lady Ironheads swept the,

Vian Wolverines Friday night at the Perry Anderson Gymnasium in Eufaula. In the boys game, Eufaula rolled to a 69-58 victory in a high-paced contest. The Ironheads had three players in double digits with Jentry James (18), Keaton Parish (16) and Maddox Bridges (13).

Eufaula jumped out fast with great defense and was hitting the perimeter shots and took an early 23-15 lead to end the first period as Parish made 11 of his 16 points in that period. Eufaula head coach Rob McKinzie made the perfect calls as Vian failed to answer against the Ironheads’ defense.

Offensively, the Ironheads were on fire as they outscored Vian 1711 in the second period. James made six points and when Vian pressured him Ty Sparks would score as he had four points and Bridges seven to end the half with a 40-26 lead.

both ends of the court.

The Ironheads made three 3-point buckets in the third period to take a 54-42 lead. The final period was nip and tuck as Vian played tough but the perimeter of Eufaula was too much to overcome and the Ironheads won their second game of the season.

“Keaton sparked us to our early lead with three 3-point scores in the first period. I’m very proud of this team and the effort they gave tonight,” Eufaula head coach Rob McKinzie said.

Lady Ironheads steamrolls Vian

The Eufaula Ironheads continue to dominate opponents as they topped Vian 60-23 Friday night. The Ironheads were in control of the game from the opening tip as they took a 36-10 lead into the halftime break. It was a 26-point second period total that sprang Eufaula to a commanding lead. Senior guard Kambry Williams had her best game of the season with 28 points. Elaina Moore and Jordas McClish added seven points in the game. The Lady Ironheads did an excellent job of moving the ball and overpowering the Lady Wolverines in the paint.

“I’m so excited about this team. They have such great potential and they like a challenge. I thought we played a complete game tonight against this team. I’m very proud of the effort off the bench and just so happy that they see how their hard work has paid off. Very proud,” Eufaula head coach Nick Yarbrough said. In the third period, Eufaula kept the ball away from Vian and ruled the clock. Allie Anderson scored four points and Kate Pippenger added a bucket as Eufaula outscored Vian 14-9 and 10-4 in the final period to win 60-23.

Keaton Parish led Eufaula with 14 points, Draven Gragg had 12 and Maddox Bridges finished with 11 points.

In Game one, The Eufaula Lady Ironheads cruised to a 67-35 victory. Eufaula dominated on defense, forcing numerous turnovers and converting on those plays. Henryetta struggled in every aspect of the game as Eufaula jumped out with a 20-5 run in the third period and did a great job of passing the ball around. Kambry Williams and Maddie Ballard each finished with 14 points and Kate Pippenger had 11 points.

Kate Pippenger of Eufaula has given great effort on both ends of the court as she scored 11 points in a 67-35 victory over Henryetta.
