Alleged to have used excessive force
A member of the Eufaula High School staff has been placed on administrative leave as police investigate an altercation that took place at the school on Nov. 2.
Police Chief David Bryning said Monday the investigation is on-going and at this time he is unable to release any details about the event.
“It involves a school staff member and a juvenile,” he said.
School Superintendent Monty Guthrie said Monday, in a Facebook post, that the “Eufaula school administration was notified (on Nov. 2) of an allegation of excessive force used in the restraint of a student. Local authorities were notified and we are working with the Eufaula Police Department to fully investigate this matter.”
Guthrie said the employee has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
“Due to the fact that this is an ongoing investigation and it is also a school personnel matter, Eufaula Public Schools is unable to make any further comment at this time,” he posted.
