A benefit for Shop With A Cop
Buck Crombie, of Checotah, thinks highly of law enforcement officers and especially their Shop With A Cop program held every year before Christmas.
Law enforcement officers from the area take youngsters who might otherwise have a bleak Christmas on a shopping spree in Eufaula and Checotah just before the holidays.
Buck decided to help out lawmen and the kids by hosting the first Lakeside Large Car Show, with proceeds from the event being donated to the Shop With A Cop program.
It will be held Aug. 25-26 in Eufaula at the corner of Lakeshore Drive and S. E Street.
These “large cars” are semis.
“We don’t have anything like this for trucks in our area,” Buck said.
The registration fee for the trucks is $40, which includes giveaways and a free concert.
There is no fee for spectators.
Registration starts at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 25. The show will be the rest of the day and starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26.
Between 80 and 100 people have entered their semis in the competition.
Four trophies will be awarded: Competitor’s Choice, Early Bird, Kid’s Choice and Running Late.

“There are so many good things about Shop With A Cop besides just being charity,” Buck said.
It teaches respect for law enforcement, showing the kids a side of an officer they might not otherwise see.
Sponsors and donations have enabled Buck to put his dream benefit together, which will include a 50/50 Cornhole Tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 and live music.
