Mat Cats celebrate Senior Night, fall to Stilwell

The Checotah Wildcats wrestling program hosted the highly talented Stilwell Indians Monday night at Truman Dixon Fieldhouse in Checotah. It was a special night for the Wildcat seniors as they were recognized in a pre-meet ceremony.

    The Checotah Wildcats wrestling program hosted the highly talented Stilwell Indians Monday night at Truman Dixon Fieldhouse in Checotah. It was a special night for the Wildcat seniors as they were recognized in a pre-meet ceremony.

    Afterward there was great action on the wrestling mat. However, Stilwell edged out Checotah 42-40 for the win after the Wildcats had multiple forfeitures in the contest.

    “I really thought we did well and competed at a high level. This team continues to improve with each meet. We just need to continue that until we reach our potential as a team,” Checotah head wrestling coach Brent Oleson said.

    The Checotah seniors of Jalen Atkins, Malachi Harris and Zach Whitman each had victories while Jhonathen McGuire’s opponent forfeited.
