We are now in the middle of Holy Week, reflecting on the last few days and hours of Jesus’ life. This week began with Palm Sunday as Jesus arrived in Jerusalem amidst waving palm branches and joyful shouts of welcome that soon turned to accusations. Jesus will have one final meal with his disciples, blessing and sharing the bread and wine with them. Then he will be betrayed by one of these disciples, arrested, interrogated, mocked and beaten. Everyone will abandon him. No one will come to his defense. He will be condemned by the crowd, nailed to a cross and after a few hours of excruciating pain, he will die.
