Utha Faye Fritz

August 10, 1921 — March 5, 2019

Utha Faye Fritz, 97, was called home to heaven March 5, 2019 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was born on August 10, 1921 to Jesse Martin Brown and Audrey Bell (Boatmun) Brown.

On August 21, 1939 she married Paul Turner Bass. They were blessed with five sons and two daughters. Paul Turner Bass passed away June 14, 1950.

Utha Faye (Brown) Bass married Samuel Athen Fritz June 16, 1962. They were blessed with one son.

Mrs. Fritz is survived by son Kenneth Bass and wife Sybil of Eufaula, Oklahoma; daughter Mary Duvall of Dallas, Texas; son Charles Bass and wife Sharon of Henryetta, Oklahoma; son Edward Bass and wife Peggy of Checotah, Oklahoma, and son Christopher Fritz of Checotah, Oklahoma. Also, nine grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Utha Faye was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Dyton Brown and three sisters, Della Kirby, Willie Mae Jones and Juanita Owens and by husbands Paul Turner Bass and Samuel Athen Fritz. Also, by two sons, William Paul Bass and James David Bass, and one daughter, Dorothy Elaine Bass.

Utha Faye graduated Eufaula High School as Salutatorian in 1939.

She worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Savanna, Oklahoma; Eufaula City Hall and at Fraternal Insurance Counselor, where she became an FIC National Member and second vice president in the National Convention. Her role was organizer and director for Oklahoma and Arkansas.

She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and DAV Auxiliary.

Utha Faye was a member of the First Baptist Church in Checotah, Oklahoma.

Services were held on March 8, 2019 at the First Baptist church in Checotah.
