Millie passes away

The 3-year-old child from Byars who was featured in a story in the June 9 issue of the newspaper has died.

Amelia “Millie” Joy Mount was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, in June, 2019.

When Jayson Asher of Yukon learned about the dying girl’s wish he arranged for a memorable fishing trip to Lake Eufaula. Asher heads a volunteer called The Mack Impact (website: themackimpact.com).

She passed away on June 8, the day that the newspaper went to print.

A viewing for Millie was to be held from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 N. Porter in Norman with the family being present to receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

A Celebration of Millie’s Life and her impact was held held at 5 p.m., Monday, July 13 at the First Baptist Church of Ada.

She was laid to rest in the McGee Cemetery in Stratford.

The services were live streamed for anyone who cannot attend but wishes to be part of her celebration.
