In a world full of wolves in sheep’s clothing can you still recognize the Lamb?
“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29) John the Baptist spoke these words to identify Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice sent by God for the atonement of humanity’s sins. This same phrase was repeated again in John 1:36. Was he trying to get mankind to recognize and really see Jesus? Are we still struggling today to recognize Him as our Coming Messiah?
John the Baptist was a prophet who was the forerunner to Christ, preaching repentance and preparing the way for the Messiah. He was the voice crying in the wilderness heralded the coming of Jesus Christ and baptized him in the Jordan River. As a major biblical figure, he is renowned for preaching repentance, living an ascetic life in the wilderness, and serving as the “forerunner” to Christ.
He proclaimed, “Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world.” Do we still behold the Lamb of God and realize that without Him we are nothing?
Then John said, “He must increase and I must decrease.” Do people even understand what that means anymore or are they so caught up in themselves that they don’t even know His name?
What do you seek? Where are you going? Do you have the faith to stay at the foot of the cross?
The same faith that it takes to step out is the same faith that it takes to stay rooted in the faith and recognizing Jesus as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
It scares me today how many don’t know Him or recognize His Spirit?
Even scarier are the ones that claim to know Him but show no compassion or love which is what God is all about.
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 Too often we forget to read the next line that states, “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” – John 3:17 God has always wanted communication with us. We are the ones that walked away from Him. Not the other way around. He doesn’t want to condemn us –that’s man who wants to point their self-righteous finger. Christ came to save us! He wants to redeem us!
Are you willing to let go of the fear and hate for your brother to find Him?
Are you willing to let go of ungodly relationships to stay with Him?
Faith can bring you out but faith can also keep you rooted and growing in His love and grace.
Can God make something beautiful out of something so marred and ugly?
Absolutely, look at the cross. Behold the Lamb! How beautiful are the scars in my Savior’s hands and feet! How beautiful that He loved a retched soul like me!
Can you see the Lamb? I can see a Savior who won’t turn away any soul who calls on His name.
I can see a Savior that stoops down into the dirt and writes something when others want to simply pick up stones against this adulterous woman caught in the very act.
I can see a Savior saying “Come to me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Abide in Me, even when you have sickness in your body. I have the power of death, hell and the grave. Only I have the power to save and set free.”
Remember the Lamb of God has never lost His way but He has left His flock as He has gone looking for the one little lost sheep.
Can you see the Lamb, my friend? “The angel told the women, ‘Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here. For he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.’” -Matthew 28:5-6 Behold the Lamb of God that left the grave, but one day will return riding on a white horse! Then all will see and behold the Lamb of God Who is the Lion of Judah!
