Eufaula High School (EHS) speech and drama is honored to announce that Don Zolidis, one of the mostproduced playwrights in the world, will be the virtual keynote speaker for the upcoming “EHS Goes Hollywood” Drama Awards Banquet on May 4, 2026.
A global voice for high school theater
With over 140 published plays produced more than 25,000 times in 80 countries, Don Zolidis is a titan of contemporary theater. As a former middle and high school theater teacher, Zolidis brings a unique perspective that resonates deeply with students and educators alike.
“I am thrilled that he will be visiting us virtually,” said EHS Speech and Drama Instructor Selina Dornan. “I think I also like the fact that Don was a theater teacher at one time. He understands the woes of the drama teacher in a high school, which is often reflected in his work”.
Zolidis’ legacy at Eufaula High School
The EHS drama department has built a rich tradition around Zolidis’ work, having previously produced Squad Goals, Help Desk, and 10 Ways to Survive the Holidays. The department is currently in rehearsals for its fourth Zolidis production, The Rehearsal, scheduled for April 23, 2026, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Mrs. Dornan noted that Zolidis’ scripts are a perfect fit for EHS, as they allow students to relate to the material while being practical for a program that often navigates limited funding and shared spaces. “The students can relate to the script, and it is fun to act, produce, and create,” she added.
Celebrating achievement: The Hansard Award
In addition to the keynote address, the banquet will feature the debut of the “Hansard Award,” a new honor established to recognize excellence within the EHS drama program. The evening’s entertainment will showcase student improvisation through a “Hollywood Party” style Event Details:
