The Eufaula Ironheads continued their outstanding season with a commanding 5837 victory over the Heavener Wolves to capture the consolation regional championship and punch their ticket to area play.
From the opening tip, the Ironheads set the tone with speed and intensity. Gabe Callison wasted little time making his presence felt, knocking down a pair of early three-pointers to spark Eufaula’s offense. Callison finished with 10 points for the night, including three clutch shots from beyond the arc that helped maintain momentum at key stretches.
Heavener’s Delmar and Barnes battled hard inside, fighting for rebounds and challenging Eufaula’s physical presence in the paint. The duo matched up against Keaton Parish and Logan Plant in a gritty rebounding contest, but the Ironheads’ defensive pressure proved to be the difference.
Eufaula’s defense controlled the tempo throughout the game. Ty Sparks and Gentry James came up with timely steals that led to transition points, while Plant showcased his court vision with crisp passes that kept the offense flowing. Bladen O’Brien displayed his quickness and poise, dishing out several sharp assists and adding a couple of buckets of his own in a wellrounded performance.
The Ironheads jumped out to a 20-13 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 31-22 by halftime. Their defensive dominance intensified in the second half, as they outscored Heavener 14-7 in the third quarter and 13-8 in the fourth to secure the 21-point win.
Offensively, Eufaula was balanced and efficient. Jentry James led all scorers with 25 points, while R’Reon Morrow added 13 points. In total, seven different Ironheads found the scoring column, highlighting the team’s depth and unselfish play.
The victory marks the first regional championship for Eufaula head coach Grant Callison, a milestone achievement in a season filled with success. With the win, the Ironheads improve to an impressive 25-4 record.
Now, Eufaula turns its attention to area play, carrying confidence, defensive intensity, and championship momentum into the next round.
The Ironheads will play Victory Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Muscogee Dome in Okmulgee.
“I’m proud of our guys. Fighting to extend your season is always difficult. You never know how your kids will react. We went through some adversity this week and I thought Friday we were really uptight. Saturday we played much more loosely. At this point it’s survival and advance. We are proud of our guys,” Eufaula head coach Grant Callison said.
