Checotah hosted their 52nd Annual Band Daze February 19 – 20 with 35 bands from across the state of Oklahoma competing in the twoday competition.
Canadian HS Band directed by Glenn Sizemore and Barbara Gibson won the Class 2A Sweepstakes Band.
Warner Eagle Band directed by Jim Davis won Class 3A Sweepstakes Band.
Broken Bow HS Band directed by Nate Sheeley won Class 4A Sweepstakes Band.
Spiro HS Jazz Band directed by Amy Cumpton won Jazz Sweepstakes Band.
Eufaula 7th Grade band directed by Michelle Barnes won the Middle School Sweepstakes Band.
The Class of Checotah also received Superior ratings.
Guest judges were David Steidley from McAlester; Ron Lewis, who is a Checotah Alumni now in AR; Toye Harris from Miami and Bill Choate, who retired from Checotah.
