No. 19 ranked Muldrow Bulldogs top Checotah Wildcats 58-35

No. 19 ranked Muldrow Bulldogs defeated the Checotah Wildcats 58-35 Tuesday night at Muldrow. It was a tight game in the first period as both teams scored 12 points. Checotah was led by scores of Cole Rolland, Wes Brown, Cooper Cutbirth and Rowan Chapman with Cutbirth and Chapman each scoring a three-point bucket.

The Bulldogs began to pull away with the duo of Collins and Sevenstar, who combined for 40 points in the game. Collins was on fire the whole game on both offense and defense. The Wildcats battled to cover Collins and Sevenstar used his height advantage to rebound and score against the Wildcats and took a 31-19 lead into the halftime break.

The third period was dismal for Checotah who’s only score came from Cutbirth as Muldrow out played and out scored Checotah 14-3 in the third period and led 45-22 to start the final period.

Landyn Thomason gave the Wildcats a spark as he scored two three-pointers in the final period.

Cole Rolland continued to battle Sevenstar in the final minutes and finished with nine points.

Checotah failed to have any player in double digits. Cutbirth and Thomason each finished with eight points and Wes Brown added five points in the loss.

Muldrow outrebounded Checotah on both ends of the court. 82.8% to 54.8% on defensive rebounds and 45.2% to 17.2% on offensive rebounds.

Checotah Wildcats claw past Poteau 55-51

The Checotah enarned a hard fought battle against Poteau on homecoming night at Checotah. The Wildcats came out on fire to start the game as they outscored the Pirates 15-7 with the help of three-pointers by Koyah Littleman and Rowan Chapman.

Poteau would battle back in the second period with 12 points to go into the halftime break trailing 20-19.

The second half was highlighted by he effort of Rowan Chapman and Cole Rolland’s effort in the paint. They battled a tough Poteau team for every rebound on both ends of the court. Checotah grabbed 66.7% of the defensive rebounds and outrebounded Poteau on the offensive boards 48.1% to 33.3%.

Hudson Pollard, Wes Brown and Landyn Thomason did a good job of taking good shots in the shooting lanes as Checotah outscored Poteau 21-16 in the fourth period. The Pirates just did not have an answer for Chapman and Rolland who scored a combined 31 points.

“I’m very proud of the effort we gave tonight. We overcame some stuff and played well all four periods. I’m very proud of this team,” Checotah head coach Malcolm Warrior said.

Rowan Chapman led Checotah with 18 points, Cole Rolland 13 points, Hudson Pollard eight points and Koyah Littleman finished with six points.
