Muldrow Lady Bulldogs top Checotah 56-23
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Checotah Lady Wildcats could not stop sisters Kilah and Kayla Ellinberg as the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs topped Checotah 56-23 on Tuesday. Muldrow dominated the Lady Wildcats in the first period 18-4. Kilah Ellinberg found her spot and shot at a high percentage as she finished with 21 points. Checotah lone senior Shyanne Madewell made her first appearance on the court since tearing her ACL. Madewell played hard but just wasn’t efficient enough against this tough and gritty Lady Bulldog defense.

The Lady Wildcats battled back in the second period with Carly Dismukes perimeter shooting and Nikai Carr scoring in the paint along with Kalleigh York as Checotah trailed 3315 at halftime.

Muldrow really came fast and hard in the third period with Kayla Ellinberg scoring inside the arch and Blazi Dieter forcing turnovers as Muldrow outscored Checotah 14-3 in the third period. Britt along with Carr continued to play hard in the paint but the combo of the Ellinberg sisters and Dieter’s three-point scores proved to be too much to overcome as the Lady Wildcats fell hard to Muldrow 56-23.

Carr led Checotah in scoring with seven points, Britt five points and Dismukes and York each scored three points.

Pirates make Lady Wildcats walk the plank The Poteau Lady Pirates forced the Checotah Lady Wildcats to walk the plank in a 4825 victory on the road at Checotah. It was night that started out with the Wildcats celebrating homecoming night with lone senior Shyanne Madewell being crown queen and Wes Brown king.

However, the Pirates took over the game with great defense as they held Checotah scoreless in the first period while scoring 12 points. Checotah would battle back with Madewell leading the charge as they outscored Poteau 12-10 in the second period but would trail 22-12 at the halftime break.

Poteau’s effort on defense forced several turnovers while they took advantage of the Lady Wildcats outscoring them 26-13 in the second half. Madewell led Checotah with 15 points while Logan Dowdy and Carly Dismukes added three points each.
