OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Tim Turner, RKinta, issued the following statements about the death of Stigler Police Officer Jeral Davis, who passed away Jan. 19, after fighting “a long and courageous battle with cancer.”
“It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Officer Davis,” Turner said. “Jeral was a man of integrity, honesty and strong moral character. He served his community with humility, dedication and compassion. Through his service, he earned the respect of everyone who knew him. Our community has truly lost one of the good ones.”
Turner said he knew Davis for as long as he’s been in Haskell County.
“Throughout that time, he always was willing to step up and help whenever someone needed it, never expecting recognition or praise. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and always carried himself with kindness and professionalism.
“He loved his family deeply and was equally devoted to his partners and the community he served. He believed in service above self, and that belief guided both his career and his life. The impact he made will be felt for many years to come.”
Turner said Davis will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him and serving alongside him. He asks the community to please keep Officer Davis’s family, his partners and the entire Stigler Police Department in their prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
“My friend, we have it from here,” Turner said of Davis. “Your service, sacrifice, and legacy will never be forgotten.”
