Crappie
• Best bite right now: Deeper structure — brush piles, docks, standing timber in 10–18 ft of water.
• Baits: Live minnows and bright jigs (chartreuse, pink, “monkey milk”).
• Hot Spots: Near Porum Landing, Duchess Creek, and Mill Creek structures.
Bass (Largemouth & Spotted)
• Bite: Improving with cooler temperatures — especially early morning and near cover.
• Techniques: – Slow-rolled spinnerbaits – Medium-diving crankbaits – Jig-and-crawler combos on rocky points
• Productive Areas: Mouths of Gentry Creek and Snake Creek early in the day.
Catfish & White Bass
• Catfish: Sand bass and blues are active in open water, especially on warmer, sunny afternoons.
• Watch for birds diving on shad schools — a good indicator of catfish and white bass activity.
• Baits: Shad, cutbait, live bait around the mouth of the Canadian River and river channels.
