The Oklahoma State Treasurer’s Office has released its latest report of unclaimed property, and the full list of names appears inside this week’s edition on page 3.
Every year, millions of dollars in unclaimed assets, ranging from checks and bank accounts to jewelry, stock certificates, and safe-deposit box contents, are turned over over to the state after going inactive for a period of time. Under the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act, these items must be reported and held by the state until the rightful owners come forward.
Unclaimed property is published twice a year in newspapers across Oklahoma, giving residents an opportunity to see whether their name, or the name of a relative, appears on the list.
Readers are encouraged to check the full report in today’s paper and search their name on the Oklahoma State Treasurer’s online database for faster claiming.
