Elves of Texanna Toy Giveaway brings Christmas joy to local children

The Elves of Texanna Toy Giveaway returned this past Sunday, Dec. 14, continuing a holiday tradition that has helped make Christmas brighter for local children and families.

The event, organized by LaDonna McKay and the Elves of Texanna, was held at the Little Turtle Banquet Hall on Old Highway 69 north of Eufaula. Families were welcomed throughout the afternoon as children received toys, pet supplies and coats, and had the opportunity to visit with Santa Claus.

This year marked the fourth year McKay has coordinated the toy giveaway, a project that began as a vision and has grown into a wellorganized community effort.

“This is very special to me. There was a time when I needed help for my family. I understand what it is like to be in their shoes and I want to give back.” McKay said.

Children who attended were given a pillowcase upon arrival to use as a shopping bag and were paired with personal shoppers who helped guide them through a wide selection of toys. A wrapping station was also available for those who wanted to wrap gifts they had selected.

The event was designed to give children the experience of choosing something special for Christmas— an opportunity that may not otherwise be possible for some families. The setup allowed children to feel included in the holiday season while creating a positive and memorable experience.

McKay and area businesses work throughout the year to collect toys and supplies for the giveaway. Numerous volunteer groups, organizations and local businesses contribute by donating toys, making pillowcases for the children, and helping support the event in various ways.

The Elves of Texanna Toy Giveaway has become a meaningful holiday tradition in the Texanna and Eufaula area, reflecting the generosity of the community and the power of one vision to make a lasting impact.
