Just as the filing period ended for school board elections, Eufaula incumbent Kenny Bumgarner announced his resignation.

Bumgarner, 55, represented seat 2. The board will ap-The point someone to fill his unto expired term.

Bumgarner had represented Office 5 for four years when he resigned in January 2022 because he moved out of the district. When Derek Gray resigned the Office 2 seat, Bumgarner ran for that position in 2024 and won.

The Board acknowledged Bumgarner’s resignation at Monday’s school board meeting.

The Board of Education General Election will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

EUFAULA Asher draws opponent

Martha Asher, 71, who has held the Office 1 seat for eight years, has drawn an opponent, Amber Michelle Baughman, 40.

Dobbs

Bethel Braddock Dobbs, 31, who was recently appointed to Office 3 on the Eufaula School Board, runs unopposed in his first election. CHECOTAH

Chris Brown, 47, is unopposed for the Office 1 seat on the Checotah School Board.

HANNA

William Martin Burleson, 48, is the only candidate for Office 1 on the Hanna School Board.

However, Office 4 has two candidates, Shane Berry, 50 and Alisha Noyes, 31.

MIDWAY

Ross Kellner, 35, is the only candidate for Office 1 in the Midway School Board election.

RYAL

Diana Morgan Walker, 60, Henryetta, is the sole candidate for Office 2 on the Ryal School Board.

STIDHAM

Jeremy Owen, 39, Eufaula, is unopposed for Office 1 on the Stidham School Board.
