Letters

To the Editor: I am not Native American. I am a 76-year-old retired white male who has recently learned about the crisis of missing native American women.

During the Covid lockdown I was watching a documentary on PBS about missing Native American women. I was shocked at this information. I did research on my phone to learn more about this crisis. There were more surprises. For example, I learned that native American women who live in urban areas are more likely to be kidnapped and the police will fail to investigate. Shocking.

The news media doesn’t report this crisis. Why? In conclusion, I end my letter with this question: Is the news media unwilling or unable to report this crisis?

Wayne Adams Editor’s note: The Indian Journal and McIntosh County Democrat have covered the issue extensively.
