Candidate filing begins for Board of Education

Candidate filing for the Board of Education begins Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, for McIntosh County school districts.

Those who wish to file for a Board of Education office must submit a Declaration of Candidacy to the McIntosh County Election Board on December 1-3 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Candidate filing packets are available on the State Election Board website at https:// oklahoma.gov/elections/candidates/ candidate-filing.html and at the County Election Board.

In addition to the Declaration of Candidacy, candidates must also submit a Voter Registration Verification Form, which can be obtained from the County Election Board or by logging into the OK Voter Portal at https://oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp.html. Information on the Voter Registration Verification Form must match the information provided on the Declaration of Candidacy.

Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than Friday, December 5, 2025, by 5 p.m. and may only be filed by another candidate for that office. Contests against unopposed candidates may be filed by contacting the County Election Board.

If only two candidates file for the same Board of Education seat, those two candidates’ names will appear on the Board of Education General Election ballot on April 7, 2026. If more than two candidates file for the same Board of Education seat, a Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2025. If one candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, that candidate will be named the elected official. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will vie for the seat during the Board of Education General Election, Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices: Checotah School District, Independent School District No. 19 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 1 (five-year term) Eufaula School District, Independent School District No. I001 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 1 (5-year term); and Board Position No. 3 (unexpired term with two years remaining) Hanna School District, Independent School District No. 49 of I-064 of Mc-Intosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 1 (5year term); and Board Position No. 4 (unexpired term with three years remaining) Midway School District, Independent School District No. I027 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board PositionNo.1(5-yearterm) Ryal Public Schools, Independent School District No. 49 C-003 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Office No. 2 (three-year term) Stidham School District, Independent School District No. 49 of C016 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 1 (three-year term) Boundaries for the following school districts are partially located in McIntosh County. Candidates may file with the County Election Board of the county wherein supervision of the school district is located or the County Election Board in the county in whichthe candidate resides.

The McIntosh County Election Board is located on the 1st floor of the Mc-Intosh County Courthouse, 110 N 1st Street, Eufaula, OK 74432 and is usually open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fortheweekofcandidate filing procedures, the County Election Board will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., although the courthouse closes at 4 p.m.
