Ava Rose Johnson is partnering with Community Counselors Group and True Value in a Holiday Food Drive that will help support families impacted by the recent government shutdown and cutbacks.
“I am thrilled to announce that I am partnering with Community Counselors Group along with True Value ( area donation sites) to bring ‘Hope to the Holidays’ by hosting a Holiday Food Drive aimed at helping families and individuals who are not receiving food stamps due to the government shutdown,” Ava Rose said.
The food drive will aim to collect non-perishable food items and distribute them to those most affected by the disruption in assistance programs. The initiative seeks to ensure that no family goes hungry, especially during the holiday season.
“This is about coming together as a community,” Ava Rose said. “So many families are struggling right now through no fault of their own. So we want to make sure everyone has access to food and some hope during the holidays.”
Community members are encouraged to donate canned goods, boxed meals and other shelf-stable foods at True Value’s designated drop-off locations in Eufaula, Checotah, Quinton, Wilburton, Stigler, Hartshorne, Sallisaw and Poteau until November 23.
