The harsh reality of domestic violence is not just the bruises, the belittling or the occasional beatings; the harsh reality is the emotional and psychological abuse. It’s the limited finances, the decreased access to affordable housing and childcare and the potential threat that you’ll have to return to your abuser because you think there’s nowhere else to go. It is such a scary reality that can be overwhelming at times.
