A Special Wreath Laying Ceremony for family members of veterans who gave their lives in Vietnam was recently announced by Don Nichols of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
The Military Order of the Purple Heart will be honoring veterans who gave their lives in Vietnam at their National Monument in Tahlequah on Veterans Day, November 11. The ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. and family members will be invited to participate in the ceremony. The monument is located at the corner of Muskogee Ave. and Bertha Parker By-Pass at 2001 S. Muskogee Ave.
This one-of-a-kind monument, which was established to honor all veterans, is directly connected to the Virtual Wall Database. The Virtual Wall includes detailed information about each person who lost their lives in Vietnam. It includes their branch of service, hometown, rank, casualty date and personal reflections or photos submitted by family members. Visitors to the monument can now scan the newly installed QR code to access data from the Virtual Wall.
