Atoka County Times releases Commemorative Edition of ‘Another 48 Hours in Atoka’

ATOKA – The Atoka County Times is proud to announce the release of a special 50th Anniversary Commemorative Edition magazine for the Another 48 Hours in Atoka Music Festival. This free publication honors the 1975 festival that launched the Outlaw Country movement and redefined country music forever.

The commemorative edition is essential reading for music fans, detailing the legendary history and the amazing cultural legacy of the event often dubbed ‘country’s Woodstock.’

The magazine dives deep into the festival’s roots, explaining how the 1975 gathering of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, and others transformed a rebellious fringe movement into a mainstream force.

• The Outlaw Genesis: Explore how the festival became a cultural crossroads, where hippies, cowboys, and rock fans converged, establishing the blueprint for large-scale country festivals that followed.

• The Legacy Continues: Read about Atoka’s enduring role as a music hub, serving as the crucial ‘middle ground’ for up-andcoming musicians traveling the circuit between Dallas and Tulsa.

• 2025 Festival Preview: Get the full schedule, vendor guide, and deep dives on performers for the Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, event, including headliners Jacquie Roar, Josh Weathers, Jordan Rainer, and Jason Boland & The Stragglers.

‘This special edition celebrates a moment that put Atoka at the center of American music history,’ says Miranda Donihoo, Editor for Atoka County Times. ‘It’s a tribute to the gritty authenticity of the 1975 festival, and a celebration featuring artists who are carrying that same outlaw energy onto the Downtown Atoka stage. We’re thrilled to offer this comprehensive look at our history, free of charge, to our readers.’
