Dozens of colorful quilts were on display at the biannual “Quilts by the Lake” show held Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 am. to 4 p.m. at the North Fork Baptist Church.
The Piece Makers Quilt Guild, which meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the Pied Piper Pest Control building located on the corner of 5th and Foley in Eufaula, manages the show as it promotes an interest in quilts, quilt making, and other sewing projects.
Its Facebook is Kiamichi and Piece Makers Quilt Guilds Anyone interested is welcome to join us. The cost is $15 annually.
Members of the guild has been creating quilts for over 30 years.
Meri Piner, of Council Hill, is president of the guild.
“I’ve been president three different times, for two-year terms. I believe it’s time for somebody else,” she laughed.
There are about 30 members of the Guild who meet monthly.
Money raised by the Guild is used for a variety of causes, including supporting the Sheriff ’s Department, and Police Department.
They donate blankets to law enforcement officers to keep in their cruisers to warm children when it’s cold.
“We also have given money to help with the purchase of police dogs,” she said. “We’re all about community service.”
