In 1968, Paul McCartney wrote the Beatles’ song Hey Jude to comfort Julian Lennon, John Lennon’s five-year-old son, who was heartbroken when his father left home. Paul’s words were meant to steady a little boy: “Hey Jude, don’t make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better.”
