What’s billed as the “world’s largest backyard party” will happen this coming weekend as blues lovers far and wide flock to the Down Home Blues Club and the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame.
Starting at 5 p.m. Friday, August 29, the 35th annual 3-day Dusk ‘til Dawn Blues Festival will keep three stages rocking with 50 bands performing hourly until the last midnight shows.
Even then, the music continues with after-hours par- ties that last until 5 a.m.
Admission to the extravaganza is $20 per night, with kids under 12 admitted free of charge.
In keeping with the vision of founders D.C. and Selby Minner, there will be many special activities for children, including hours of puppet shows, craft creating possibilities, face painting, and free harmonica lessons for those bringing their own instruments.
Plenty of parking is available in fields across the street from the site at 103020 DC Minner Street, Rentiesville, where visitors will be picked up by golf carts and transferred at no cost to the area brimming with food trucks, vendors and non-stop music.
All will be shown how to call for a golf cart to return them to the parking area when calling it a day.
Performers’ names, pictures, and stage times are itemized on another page in this newspaper for planning each day in advance.
The Friends of Rentiesville, a non-profit organization now in charge of the festival (due to Selby Minner’s tragic death), hopes the number of attendees will continue to increase each year, as in the past.
Expect a special tribute to Selby on Saturday, especially because Governor Kevin Stitt issued a proclamation naming August 30, 2025, as “Selby Minner ‘Keeping the Blues Alive Day’ in Oklahoma.”
Organizers say this year promises to be the most memorable yet.
