Muscogee Nation artist Jon Tiger’s latest work is a mural on the wall of the second-floor Chattahoochee meeting room of Suite Shots Jenks, a sports entertainment complex featuring hightech golf games. Tiger’s mural is titled “Down on the River,” by the Alabama and Tallapoosa rivers and Muscogee history. Tiger, a Eufaula resident, said dugout canoes were used as a primary mode of transportation. Without many horses, “you either walked, swam or rode a canoe.” Dugout canoes could hold as many as 12 people. The white crane represents peace. This sacred bird is honored every summer to this day as well as all birds through ceremony. The red-ear turtle watches while they float the tributaries.
