The Eufaula Lady Ironheads delivered late-game heroics Monday night, seizing a thrilling 2-1 win over the Haskell Lady Haymakers at Eufaula’s Chris Gawf Field. With the score knotted at one in the bottom of the sixth, senior Rayleigh Peterson came through in the clutch, ripping a single to bring home the goahead run and electrify the home crowd.

In the circle, Leah Green was nothing short of dominant— fanning an incredible 15 batters while allowing just two hits and a single run over seven innings. The ace kept her composure under pressure, walking only one batter and keeping Haskell’s offense off balance all night.

Eufaula struck first in the third inning when Peterson showed patience at the plate, working a walk that forced in a run. Haskell answered in the top of the sixth, with Madison Humphrey lacing a single to right to even the score. But the tie was short-lived thanks to Peterson’s heroics just minutes later.

Haskell’s starter Cheyanna Morgan put up a strong fight, striking out five in four innings while limiting Eufaula to three hits early on. But the Lady Ironheads stayed patient, drawing five walks on the day and swiping two bases—both courtesy of Green.

Peterson led the offensive charge with two RBIs and a 1-for-3 day at the plate. She was joined in the hit column by Abby Box, Leah Green, and Maddison Lee, while the defense shined with zero errors—highlighted by Hannah Needham’s 15 defensive chances.

For Haskell, Humphrey and Josie Enkey each tallied one hit, with Humphrey driving in the Lady Haymakers’ lone run.

When the dust settled, it was the Ironheads’ mix of pitching dominance, smart baserunning, and lategame grit that sealed the deal—sending the fans home buzzing and the team riding high into their next matchup.
