Sheriff’s office seeks K9 donations

The McIntosh County Sheriff ’s Office is asking the public for donations to help maintain its K9 program.

Lt. Chad Breazeale says the program is “dedicated to supporting drug enforcement, criminal apprehension, and search and rescue missions throughout our communities. “Our K9 teams serve as an essential resource for both our agency and surrounding jurisdictions,” he said.

The K9 program currently has three K9 teams, Breazeale said, including:

• K9 Jack – Handler: Lieutenant Chad Breazeale Certified and utilized primarily for drug operations and mutual aid requests.

• K9 Sasa – Handler: Deputy Bradley Smith Newly assigned and currently completing certification training.

• K9 Badger – Handler: Deputy Christian DeGraffenreid Certified in May 2025.

Temporarily inactive due to the handler being on medical leave.

Once certified, all MCSO K9s are trained to:

• Detect the odor of illegal narcotics

• Conduct tracking and apprehension of suspects
