District 3 Commissioner Bobby Ziegler assured Shauna Belyeu at Monday’s meeting that complaints she aired were being addressed.
“It’s the beavers,” he said. Belyeu, representing some 300 homeowners in the Rolling Oaks area northwest of Eufaula, said part of Road 1140 was becoming impassable because of erosion caused by constant flooding.
If it becomes much worse, she said, the homeowners would be isolated and school buses would not be able to use the road.
Ziegler said the flooding is being caused by beavers on one landowner’s property and that a specialist with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife will remove the beavers as soon as permission is granted by the landowner.
Once permission is granted, road crews will repair and replace the section of the road that has deteriorated.
