City welcomes new team member

The City of Eufaula is excited to announce the hiring of a new Maintenance Worker, Tala Whisenhunt, who will directly serve our community through water meter maintenance, care for animals at the City’s animal shelter, and beautification efforts in our historic downtown.

This position reflects the City’s commitment to accountability, community, and excellence in delivering core services that improve daily life for residents and visitors, said City Manager Jacob Foos.

“By supporting water meter inspections, testing, and repairs, this role will strengthen accountability by ensuring accurate billing and prompt service, giving residents confidence in the reliability of Eufaula’s water systems,” he said.

At the animal shelter, Tala will promote the value of community by caring for animals through daily morning feeding, cleaning, and maintenance of shelter facilities, while responding to loose dog reports with compassion and a focus on safety. This ensures the City remains a caring place for people and pets alike.

In Eufaula’s historic downtown, Tala will support excellence in public spaces through routine landscaping, cleaning sidewalks, and maintaining benches, signage, and decorative elements. By keeping our downtown welcoming and beautiful, this work helps create a positive environment for local small businesses, encouraging foot traffic and enhancing the customer experience for shops and restaurants. A clean and vibrant downtown also makes Eufaula a great place for visitors, supporting tourism and strengthening our local economy while fostering community pride.

“This hire directly supports our commitment to accountability, community, and excellence, ensuring we deliver high-quality core services while caring for our people, places, and pets,” said Foos. “Downtown beautification is not just about appearances; it is about supporting local businesses, attracting visitors, and ensuring Eufaula remains a community we are all proud to call home.”
