Oklahoma Wildcatters to begin 2025 Championship Campaign on July 11 in Oklahoma City

While Oklahoma City is still reeling from the Thunder’s NBA Championship win, the city’s other professional team, the Oklahoma Wildcatters is gearing up to begin their push for a world title in just a few short weeks.

The Oklahoma Wildcatters are the Sooner State’s lone professional bull riding team, competing in the groundbreaking PBR Teams league. The Wildcatters are owned by Midwest City’s own Talor Gooch, professional LIV Golf champion, and are under the leadership of bull riding legend and Head Coach J.B. Mauney.

The Wildcatters were one of two expansion teams to join the league in 2024. The Wildcatters opened the 2024 season at home, going 2-1 in game play as they beat the then reigning Champion Texas Rattlers and eventual Champion Austin Gamblers. Oklahoma finished the regular season 11-16-1 and we’re upset in the first round of the playoffs.

With a fresh season on the horizon, Head Coach Mauney has assembled a Championship- contending roster.

The lineup of riders is led by reigning PRCA Champion Josh Frost, two-time PBR World Finals qualifier Cort Mc-Fadden and Brazilian sensation Eduardo Matos. The Wildcatters also return Oklahoman Kase Hitt who hails from nearby Dickson.

Mauney and the Wildcatters will face three staunch opponents at home when they host Wildcatter Days from July 11-13 at Paycom Center set to play 2023 PBR Teams Champion Texas Rattlers on July 11, Arizona Ridge Riders on July 12 and reigning World Champion Austin Gamblers on July 13.

For Mauney, the weekend will be met with added significance. On Thursday, July 10, PBR will once again hold its prestigious Heroes & Legends ceremony at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. That evening, Mauney will be inducted into the PBR Hall of Fame, set to be the latest bull rider to receive the coveted Ring of Honor.
