Big 12 Conference kicks off partnership expansion with Microsoft at Football Media Days

The Big 12 Conference announced an expanded strategic partnership with Microsoft focused on integrating Microsoft 365 Copilot into business and game day functions to transform how the conference operates on and off the field. The partnership kicks off at the Big 12 Football Media Days, powered by Copilot, on July 8 and 9 at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

At Football Media Days, an AI agent built with Microsoft Copilot Studio will streamline access to essential information for the press, offering real-time details on onsite player representatives, team schedules for the season, upcoming events and activities, and more. Additionally, Copilot in Microsoft Teams will enable press conference transcription and AI summaries and recaps to help the press and public gain access to post-event information faster.

This is just one part of the multiyear partnership in which the Big 12 Conference will use Copilot technology, including AI agents, to enhance business operations. Big 12 officials will also use Copilot to help review post-game video footage and generate learning and training insights. Additionally, Microsoft Surface devices will be available on the sidelines for coaches and players on game day and in practices.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Microsoft through the integration of Microsoft 365 Copilot into Big 12 Football Media Days and throughout the Conference,” said Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark. “By incorporating Copilot’s AI technology into our daily operations, the Big 12 is enhancing productivity and further solidifying its reputation as a Conference of innovation.”

“Whether it’s delivering real-time insights to the press, streamlining business operations, or supporting game day officials, Copilot is helping the Big 12 Conference enhance Football Media Days and the Conference experience,” said Bryson Gordon, Corporate Vice President, Global Marketing, Microsoft. “We look forward to seeing its transformational impact on the Big 12 Conference and college sports.”

The Big 12’s partnership with Microsoft began last season with the announcement of Microsoft Surface as the official tablet of the Big 12 Football. Surface tablets were used by all 16 programs on the sidelines and in the coaching booths throughout the 2024 season and marked Microsoft’s first partnership in college athletics and across Power Four conferences.
